Sebastián Arriagada (Temuco, Chile) es un artista, investigador y cineasta chileno cuyo trabajo explora las dimensiones técnicas y poéticas de la infraestructura tecnológica y la producción de imágenes fijas y en movimiento. Su práctica transdisciplinar investiga las tensiones entre el progreso tecnológico, las nuevas narrativas y las cosmologías locales en territorios latinoamericanos, mediante metodologías que incluyen el cine-ensayo, la instalación y la fabricación de dispositivos multimediales.
Máster en Cine Documental por la Universidad de Chile y candidato a Doctor en Artes por la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, su investigación actual se centra en las imágenes técnicas de los observatorios astronómicos del desierto chileno. Su obra reciente incluye El mono con la lengua afuera (2025), Zoológico Imaginario (2024, galardonada en el Concurso Internacional Posthumanamente Hablando iA+), El estado soy yo - Versión performativa y 50 veces los Hawker Hunter bombardean el Palacio de la Moneda (2023), y Nueva Carne (2022).
Su trabajo ha sido reconocido en festivales internacionales como Sparknify (EEUU), FIVIA (Francia), Ars Electronica (Austria), Ultracinema (México), Alchemy Film and Moving Image Festival (Escocia), Bienal de Artes Mediales, Fidocs y FicValdivia (Chile), y Corriente no-ficción (Perú). Durante 2025-2026 desarrolla la residencia "ZOOMANCIA" en la Universidad de Las Américas. Actualmente es profesor de cine en la Universidad de Chile.

Sebastián Arriagada (Temuco, Chile) is a Chilean artist, researcher, and filmmaker whose work explores the technical and poetic dimensions of technological infrastructure and the production of still and moving images. His transdisciplinary practice investigates the tensions between technological progress, emerging narratives, and local cosmologies in Latin American territories, through methodologies including essay film, installation, and the fabrication of multimedia devices.
He holds a Master's degree in Documentary Film from Universidad de Chile and is a PhD candidate in Arts at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, where his current research focuses on technical images from astronomical observatories in the Chilean desert. His recent work includes El mono con la lengua afuera (The Monkey with Its Tongue Out, 2025), Zoológico Imaginario (Imaginary Zoo, 2024, awarded at the International Competition Posthumanamente Hablando iA+), El estado soy yo - Versión performativa (I Am the State - Performative Version) and 50 veces los Hawker Hunter bombardean el Palacio de la Moneda (50 Times the Hawker Hunters Bomb La Moneda Palace, 2023), and Nueva Carne (New Flesh, 2022).
His work has been recognized at international festivals including Sparknify (USA), FIVIA (France), Ars Electronica (Austria), Ultracinema (Mexico), Alchemy Film and Moving Image Festival (Scotland), Bienal de Artes Mediales, Fidocs and FicValdivia (Chile), and Corriente no-ficción (Peru). During 2025-2026, he is developing the artistic residency "ZOOMANCIA" at Universidad de Las Américas. He currently teaches film at Universidad de Chile.
